Eligibility

Admission to the Ph.D. programme is open to motivated and academically qualified candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria as per prevailing academic and regulatory guidelines. The programme welcomes applicants from diverse educational backgrounds, provided they demonstrate strong academic performance and research aptitude.


Candidates are eligible if they have completed either a 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree, or a 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the relevant statutory regulatory authority. Applicants must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade, where a grading system is followed. Degrees obtained from foreign educational institutions are also considered, provided they are awarded by institutions accredited and recognized by authorized assessment or accreditation bodies in their home country.


A relaxation of 5% marks (or equivalent grade) is applicable for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories as notified by the commission from time to time.


Candidates seeking admission directly after completing a 4-year Bachelor’s degree programme must have obtained at least 75% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade. For reserved category candidates, a 5% relaxation in marks is applicable as per commission norms.


Additionally, candidates who have completed an M.Phil. programme with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade are also eligible to apply. The same 5% relaxation applies to eligible reserved categories.


Reservation benefits are applicable only to candidates with Maharashtra domicile, subject to submission of valid reservation documents before the interview process. Candidates from outside Maharashtra will be considered under the open category.

PhD Degree in Enivronmental Science Admission Process

The Ph.D. admission process at MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) is designed to ensure transparency, academic rigor, and the selection of high-potential research scholars. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria are invited to appear for the Ph.D. Entrance Test conducted by the university. However, applicants who have qualified in recognized national-level examinations such as UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, GATE (valid score), CEED, GPAT, or similar exams are exempted from the entrance test, reflecting their proven research aptitude.


The Ph.D. entrance test is qualifying in nature, with minimum qualifying marks set at 50%. A relaxation to 45% is applicable for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other approved categories. The test syllabus is balanced, comprising 50% research methodology and 50% subject-specific content, ensuring both conceptual clarity and domain expertise.


Candidates who qualify the entrance test are required to appear for an interview or viva-voce, conducted by the university. Final selection is based on a weighted evaluation of 70% entrance test performance and 30% interview performance. For candidates qualified through NET, JRF, GATE, SET, GPAT, or CEED, selection is based solely on the interview/viva-voce.


Selected candidates receive intimation via email and are offered provisional Ph.D. admission, subject to document verification. The university reserves the right to cancel admission in cases of misconduct, unsatisfactory academic progress, failure in Ph.D.-related examinations, document discrepancies, ineligibility, or plagiarism.
