Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria
1. Master’s Degree Requirement
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university or an equivalent institution, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade.
2. Relaxation for Reserved Categories
A 5% relaxation in the required marks will be granted to candidates belonging to the following categories, as per UGC and Government of India guidelines:
SC
ST
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
Differently-Abled candidates
Any other categories approved by the Government/UGC
3. Exemption from Entrance Test
Candidates who have already qualified any of the following examinations are exempted from the entrance test and may directly appear for the interview:
UGC–JRF
UGC–NET
SET / SLET
M.Phil. (completed in regular mode)
Specific Requirement for Psychology
Applicants seeking admission to the Ph.D. in Psychology must have:
A Master’s degree in Psychology or allied disciplines with a minimum of 55% marks.
A 5% relaxation in eligibility marks is applicable for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Differently-Abled categories.
A Master’s or Postgraduate degree in Psychology (or as specified by the University)
Many institutions require at least 55% marks for general category applicants
A Ph.D. typically takes 2 to 5 years to complete, depending on the university and mode of study (full-time or part-time)
Psychology PhD Admission Process
1. Entrance Requirements
Diploma, B.Tech, and Ph.D. Programmes:
Admission is based on performance in the Entrance Test conducted by the University.
MBA Programmes:
Applicants are selected through a Personal Interview (PI).
All Other Programmes:
Admission is granted based on the eligibility criteria prescribed for each programme.
2. Merit-Based Admission
The University follows a strict merit-based system, considering:
Marks obtained in the qualifying examination, or
Eligibility guidelines as per regulatory/statutory authorities, wherever applicable.
For technical programmes, preference is given to candidates who have appeared for JEE Main 2025.

Select your preferred Programme/Specialization, generate your brochure number, and proceed to the application form.
Enter all required details and pay the registration fee of ₹1500.
After successful submission, you will receive a confirmation message via SMS and email.
Attend the Personal Interview (PI), conducted online through Zoom.
If found eligible, you may proceed with the online provisional admission process.
How to Apply: Offline Mode
Applicants opting for the offline process may follow these steps:
Visit the Admission Cell at SGT University for manual enquiry.
Your enquiry will be assigned to the appropriate counsellor through the KIOSK lead assignment system.
The counsellor will share detailed information regarding the programme, eligibility requirements, fee structure, and other relevant details.
Submit your documents for verification.
If eligible, pay the application fee of ₹1500.
Appear for the Personal Interview (PI) at the University campus.
If selected, you will be offered provisional admission.
