Eligibility
1. Academic Qualifications
Master’s Degree Requirement
A Master’s degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Technology, Fashion Management, Textile & Clothing, Home Science, Visual Arts, or other relevant disciplines from a recognized university.
Candidates must have secured:
Minimum 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade), or
CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale.
5% relaxation in minimum marks/CGPA is provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Differently Abled categories as per UGC norms.
Bachelor’s Degree Requirement
A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as:
B.Sc. Home Science
Textile & Clothing
B.V.A (Bachelor of Visual Arts)
Equivalent design or textile-related disciplines
Must show a strong academic record.
2. Candidates with Non-Relevant Master's Degree
If the Master’s degree is not directly relevant to the proposed research area:
The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience (teaching or industry) in the proposed research area.
This is compulsory to establish research suitability.
Note:PG Diploma holders are not eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program.
3. Eligibility Based on UGC Guidelines
Option A: Master's Degree Route
Candidates qualify if they have:
A 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree,
OR
A 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree after a 4-year Bachelor’s degree,
with minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grades.

Must have minimum 75% aggregate marks or equivalent UGC grade.

Important Note:
If an institution uses a 9.5 conversion factor, a CGPA of 7.5 does NOT equal 75%, and the candidate becomes ineligible under this criterion.
4. Experience Requirement for Part-Time Ph.D.
Candidates applying for part-time Ph.D. must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching or industry experience at the time of submitting the application.
